39 - New Year, New You

Now is the perfect time to consider if you are going to make any changes in you life this year. But as always we want to take a strategic, well thought out approach and take into consideration our appetite for risk. We also want to make progress!
Reflect on how amazing you would feel in 12 months’ time if you made that big change, the one you have been thinking about (and probably putting off) for a while. Yes, it may be a hard change or decision you are considering but putting it off can often be the source of frustration, anxiety and regret.
Your Compass
As the saying goes, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. But before we can take that step, it's crucial to know which direction we are headed. This is where the concept of evaluating or reflecting on your life comes into play. If you have been following for a while, you will know that I love autumn for reflection and big thinking, but really you can do it any time. The Wheel of Life allows you to visually assess various areas of your life, such as career, relationships, health, personal growth, and more. By rating your satisfaction in each area, you can quickly identify where you are thriving and where you might want to invest more energy. It's like having a compass that directs you toward the areas needing the most attention, setting the stage for where you will focus energy and create change in your life this year.
Strategies for Personal Transformation
Once you've pinpointed your target area or areas for change or growth, the next step is creating a plan to achieve it. Here are some steps to consider:
- Be clear on what a 10/10 would look like in the area you are looking to change.
- What do you need to do? Start setting out the steps you will need to take. It is ok to not know it all before you start, trust that you will figure the rest out.
- Understand if and how others can help you, a friend, mentor or life coach.
- Identify any key milestones that you can drive towards.
- How will you reward yourself when you have achieved your goals?
I love having an exciting future vision to help propel you forward, but also the carrot on the stick to keep me motivated too.
Remember, personal transformation is a journey, not a sprint. We can make amazing changes in our lives by taking one step at a time, yes, every now and again it will be a big step (like going for that big promotion that scares the hell out of you) but even those we can break down into manageable chunks. Forward progress every day towards a clear goal.
And remember…quitters never win, winners never quit. Keep going through the tough parts and you will absolutely get there.
